As I See It
I see some changes looming in education and learning
This is my crystal ball page. On this page I offer up ideas that I believe are on the verge of creating new movements in technology. Since I am an educator I can not help but wonder, what will future teachers learn? No doubt in my mind, education will be more global and include more technology. Keet track of what's going on at home and around the world at NMC publications. Pick your report. You only have to scan them and look for trends and opportunities that you want on your radar screen.

A Convergence We are Just Beginning to Understand
What happens when video games meet web 2.0? Are simulations, geospatial mapping and avatars in your future?
Convergence in the cloud and on ones mobileThe Pew Research is well known for producing quality research. In one of their recent reports they tell of how the world of the Web and the world of the App will join in the cloud. What do you think? While you are at Pew Internet Research please look around for more current reports.
I believe that Jane Hart's Directory of Learning & Performance Tools is an area that all educators should regularly visit. At the time that I created this link, Jane included over 2000 tools for learning. When visiting this site, select your favorite area and investigate the alternatives. I continue to come back, over and over again.
Jane's Reading list is also something that every educator should look over. I've found many resources and authors that I've continued to follow. |
OTHER MOOCs
I believe that eventually MOOCs will break education in the nicest of ways. By that I mean that the best of the classroom and the best of self-actualized and life long learning will combine to transform education. A quick overview of MOOCs from Wikipedia describes the two main MOOC families, xMOOCs and sMOOCs on one hand and cMOOCs on the other. Of course there are many other more subtle variations of MOOCs. But look this over and you'll see what I mean,
Under "other MOOCs" you will see many more derivations that MOOCs can and do provide.
