Educational Technology

Wright State University offers three programs leading to State of Ohio educational license for individuals who wish to work with technology in schools.

Wright State among "America's Best Colleges" 2011 rankings by U.S. News and World Report for the third year in a row.

Our most popular option
was designed for teachers who seek an Ohio endorsement to their teaching license. This option although only an 'endorsement' may be coupled with a masters degree program.

Dr. Carlsen's Sabbatical

Areas of study during my sabbatical are:
   1. Acquire deeper understanding of global ICT education. [Very uneven; we can learn from others but will we? We are generally ahead on MOOCs but next is monetization. Teacher education is changing.]
   2. Help to build a new professional organization and journal. The name as reconstituted as AUCEi standing for Association for Ubiquitous and Collaborative  Educators. [I think AUCEi will survive. If it survives for 5 years it will survive for 10 years]
   3. Help to arrange global internship opportunities for WSU students.[There are opportunities but one needs boots on the ground or friends who will accept an additional work load. Then, for how long will they remain your friend?]

 Areas of Emphasis

Beginning in the fall of 2012 through December of 2013 I will be emphasizing the following areas in my classes.

  1. Mobile and ubiquitous technologies (That is; mobile phones and tablets)
  2. Cloud Computing ("Google Drive"-like apps are the future along with a much faster and cheaper Internet. Not sure about the cheaper in the US.)
  3. Virtual worlds and 3D animations and collaboration.
  4. Gaming and simulations
  5. Appification of the Internet.
  6. Changes in emphasis in ICT
