Welcome to Dr. Carlsen’s WebPage
Educational technology, also known as EdTech, is a field that focuses on the use of technology to enhance and improve the teaching and learning process. In my 13 years at Wright State University, I had the privilege of being a technology leader in both graduate and undergraduate programs in the Department of Leadership Studies, Prior to that, I also taught at the University of Dayton in 2013. My classes involved teaching how to integrate technological tools and resources into educational settings to facilitate learning and increase engagement. This field has gained massive attention in recently due to the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Education must transform itself, but this transformation will require added resources and wise leadership.
While EdTech has been gaining attention in recent years, it is important to note that it is not a one-size-fits-all solution for education. It is crucial for educators and leaders to carefully consider the use and implementation of technology in the classroom, as it can have both positive and negative impacts. Additionally, the rapid development of AI in the field of EdTech also raises ethical concerns and the need for responsible and thoughtful use of technology in education. As the field continues to evolve, it will be important to prioritize the well-being and success of students while utilizing technology as a tool for enhancing learning.

I rarely track this webpage but I continue to be interested in following areas:
1. Internet Technologies with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence.
2. Resource advisor for students pursuing doctoral studies.
3. Internet speech and war issues
4. Research diet, unusually low carb diets
Each day I text, use Facebook, and X. These provide me with a way to stay connected with friends from my high school days and even some former students from when I taught 5th and 6th graders in Crestwood, Illinois from the 1960s.
